One dead, six injured in Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv

One person was killed and six others injured, including a 15-year-old girl, in a Russian drone and missile attack on Kyiv in the early hours of July 21.

According to Ukrinform, the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported this on Telegram.

"On the night of July 21, 2025, Russian forces attacked the capital with missiles and drones. As of 08:00, one man has been confirmed dead and six people injured, including a 15-year-old girl. The victims sustained multiple shrapnel wounds and lacerations. One woman received on-site medical assistance due to a hypertensive crisis," the statement read.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a residential high-rise building was damaged, sparking a fire on three floors. The attack also affected a metro station building as well as nearby restaurants and retail spaces.

In the Solomianskyi district, blast waves shattered windows and doors in several apartment buildings.

In the Darnytskyi district, a kindergarten and supermarkets were damaged, and windows were blown out in a residential building.

In the Dniprovskyi district, fires broke out in trade pavilions and warehouses.

In the Obolonskyi district, two buildings — one of them under construction — sustained structural damage.

The exact number of those injured and the full extent of the attack's consequences are still being assessed.

Rescue workers and law enforcement officers are working at the sites of destruction and documenting another war crime.

Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of a war crime resulting in death (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the National Police, as of 08:20, damage and debris have been recorded in the Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
