Russians pushing toward Dnipropetrovsk region
This was reported in a comment to Ukrinform by Spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces Vladyslav Voloshyn.
“The most challenging situation is in the Novopavlivka sector, where the enemy is trying to break through to the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk region. There are still several of our villages under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, including Zelene Pole, Vilne Pole, Novopil, Shevchenko, Bahatyr, and Kostiantynopil. These are a few settlements located in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, which the enemy is now trying with all their might to capture in order to enter Dnipropetrovsk region. In the Novopavlivka sector last week, a record number of assaults per day was recorded — 46,” Voloshyn said. He added that usually, the number of assaults fluctuated around 35-40 per day.
In their attempt to break into Dnipropetrovsk region, according to Voloshyn, the enemy uses a large number of drones, assault, and army aviation.
“Before launching these assaults, the enemy strikes our positions with guided aerial bombs, effectively destroying them, and then tries to occupy these positions,” Voloshyn explained.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the DeepState project showed prepared engineering and fortification structures (EFS) on the administrative border between Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions.
The EFS on the administrative boundary between Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions are constructed as an echeloned defense aimed at delaying and exhausting the enemy while inflicting maximum losses. Special attention is paid to engineering obstacles, which combine different types of barriers: anti-tank ditches, concrete tetrahedrons (also known as “dragon’s teeth”), concertina wire, machine gun nests, minefields, and more.
