Rescue efforts underway following large-scale Russian attack on Kyiv

In response to a large-scale Russian UAV and ballistic missile attack, rescue teams are working to mitigate the aftermath in several districts across Kyiv.

According to Ukrinform, citing a report from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on Telegram, Kyiv came under attack during the night of May 24.

Emergency crews are currently addressing the damage at several locations throughout the city.

In the Solomianskyi district, a fire erupted in apartments on the 4th and 5th floors of a five-story residential building. Thirty personnel, assisted by eight fire and rescue units, extinguished the blaze. One man was rescued using a life jacket and was transferred to medical personnel with suspected combustion product poisoning.

In the Obolonskyi district, a fire broke out on the balconies of a nine-story building, affecting the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th floors. Rescuers evacuated three individuals, while four others sought medical attention for acute stress reactions. The fire was successfully extinguished.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a fire broke out in a single-story non-residential building used for storing paints and varnishes as a result of the Russian attack. Response operations remain ongoing.

Authorities are still assessing the potential number of casualties.

Kyiv’s air raid alert lasted for seven hours and 15 minutes.
