Russians shell Kherson suburbs, one man killed

Russian forces shelled the suburbs of Kherson, hitting the village of Antonivka. A 65-year-old man was killed, while in central Kherson, a 70-year-old resident was injured after stepping on a Russian anti-personnel Petal mine.

According to Ukrinform, the Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, stated this on Telegram.

"At around 07:00, Russian troops shelled Antonivka. A 65-year-old man was hit by enemy fire and sustained fatal injuries," the statement said.

The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the attack occurred on the morning of February 13. The deceased man was outdoors at the time of the shelling. A pre-trial investigation has been launched for a war crime resulting in a civilian death.

Prokudin also reported that in the morning, in Kherson's Central District, a man detonated Russian explosive devices. The 70-year-old stepped on a Petal anti-personnel mine, suffering shrapnel wounds to his legs, a concussion, and both blast and closed head injuries. Emergency services transported him to the hospital in moderate condition.

Police noted that the incident occurred near the intersection of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Street and Kozatskyi Lane, and warned residents to avoid the area, as more mines could be present.

Additionally, Russian forces shelled the village of Zelenivka. Residential areas were hit, with at least three private homes damaged and one nearly completely destroyed. No injuries have been reported. Gas and electrical networks were also damaged in this attack.

As Ukrinform previously reported, over the past day in the Kherson region, one person was killed and four others were injured due to Russian aggression.
