Strike on Odesa center: Buildings in UNESCO protection zone damaged, two injured

A Russian missile strike on the historic center of Odesa late on Friday left two people injured and caused significant damage in the UNESCO protection zone.

Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"They are currently being transported to city hospitals, where they will receive all necessary medical care," the mayor said.

Trukhanov added that emergency services are working at the scene, and extensive damage has been reported. A building under enhanced protection was among the structures hit.

During the air raid alert, a series of explosions were heard across Odesa. The regional military administration stated that enemy missiles had targeted the city's historic center. Among the injured was a hotel employee, according to initial reports.
