Situation on border with Belarus remains stable – Demchenko

Ukrinform
The situation on the border with Belarus remains stable, according to Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

“No evidence has been recorded to suggest that any equipment or personnel have been relocated in recent times. No incidents of a non-standard nature that could directly impact border security have been recorded in the recent period. Nevertheless, this area continues to represent a security risk,” Demchenko said on Ukrainian television.

He underscored the necessity of maintaining fortified positions along the border. He asserted that Ukraine must have strong defense positions and be prepared to repel any enemy attack.

However, Demchenko said that the situation may change, and intelligence units continue to monitor this area.

As reported by Ukrinform, the State Border Guard Service has issued a statement refuting reports from some media outlets concerning alleged attempts by Russian troops to enter the territory of the Sumy region.

On December 6, after signing a treaty on security guarantees between the “Union State of Belarus” and Russia in Minsk, Alexander Lukashenko asked Vladimir Putin to deploy new weapons systems in Belarus, including the Oreshnik.
