Retiree killed as invaders shell Shostka district

Russian forces have shelled the town of Seredyna-Buda, Sumy region, with artillery, killing a retiree in his own yard.

The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office reported this on its Telegram channel, Ukrinform reports.

"According to the investigation, on June 4, 2024, at around 12:40, using methods of warfare prohibited by international law, the enemy fired artillery at civilian infrastructure in the town of Seredyna-Buda, Shostka district," the post reads.

As a result of the enemy attack, a 70-year-old civilian man suffered fatal shrapnel wounds in his own yard.

Prosecutors and other law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the shelling.

Under the procedural leadership of the Shostka District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In the future, the materials of the criminal proceedings will be forwarded to the office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region.
