France set to train 7,000 Ukrainian soldiers this year - media
This is reported by the Associated Press, Ukrinform saw.
Part of the military will undergo training in Poland and part – at French military bases.
As noted, the initial goal set by the EU was to train 15,000 soldiers, but that objective was significantly exceeded, with the latest plan being to train 35,000 soldiers by the end of 2023. According to the European Commission, all but three EU member states, as well as Norway, which is not a member of the European Union, have provided training courses or provided instructors to this end.
According to the Pentagon, the U.S. has already trained nearly 18,000 Ukrainian recruits, mostly in Germany, while another 1,000 are currently undergoing such training.
Over the past 17 months, 30,000 personnel have undergone military training on British soil.
In addition to basic arms training, teaching recruits battlefield first aid, and other skills, instructors also impart specialized military know-how, ranging from demining and small boat landing operations to equipment repair, officer training, and even assisting military chaplains.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Czech Senate extended the mandate for the training of Ukrainian military personnel until the end of 2024.
