More than 5,000 victims of flooding in Kherson region apply for financial aid

More than five thousand people who suffered from flooding in the Kherson region due to the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant by the Russian military have applied for state aid in the amount of five thousand hryvnias.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional State Administration, according to Ukrinform.

"Regarding payments to victims of flooding. 5,025 people have applied for state aid in the amount of 5,000 UAH, of whom about 4,200 are residents of Kherson. The money has already been received by 1113 recipients," the statement said.

As noted, 1047 applications were received for payments from the regional budget. From local budgets - 945, 153 affected residents of Belozersk and Kherson communities have already been paid a total of UAH 1.4 million.

International organizations have allocated more than UAH 23 million to pay financial assistance to 3,502 residents of the region.

Those who have not yet received their payments are advised to contact the social security authorities by the end of August.

As reported, on the night of June 6, Russian troops blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, causing large-scale flooding. A number of settlements in the Kherson region were submerged. The flooding also affected the territories of the Mykolaiv region.
