
Bodies of 51 fallen defenders returned to Ukraine
"The bodies of service members who gave their lives for Ukraine were handed over. Today, the bodies of 51 defenders were returned to their relatives," Oleh Kotenko, Commissioner for Persons Gone Missing under Special Circumstances, posted on Telegram.
The repatriation of bodies from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine took place with the assistance of the Ministry of Reintegration, the Commissioner for Persons Gone Missing in cooperation with the Joint Center at the Security Service of Ukraine, Civil-Military Cooperation Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other law enforcement agencies, departments and international organizations.
The process of returning the bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers continues. It takes place in accordance with the norms of the Geneva Convention, Kotenko noted.
As reported, on May 30, Ukraine managed to bring home the bodies of another 79 Ukrainian defenders.
