Situation in flooded Oleshky critical: Russians closed the city, there is no electricity or gas

The Russian forces closed the occupied city of Oleshky in Kherson region, which was flooded following the Kakhovka HPP blast. There are no communication services, electricity or gas supply in the community, evacuation is not actually carried out.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, announced this during the United News nationwide telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"The situation in Oleshky community, as well as on the left bank of the Dnipro River in general, is very critical. The occupiers announced some kind of evacuation, but nothing went further than words - there was no evacuation. Currently, there are no communication services, electricity or gas supply in the community. The population is in dire need of drinking water and food," Prokudin said.

According to him, in the past two days, the occupiers have completely closed the city and imposed a so-called quarantine. Only citizens with a Russian passport are being evacuated to the Russian city of Voronezh.

According to local doctors, eight people have already died in the community as a result of flooding.

"The death of eight people who died as a result of flooding has now been confirmed. This is the information verified by Oleshky doctors," the regional governor said.

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of June 6, the Russian forces blew up the dam of the Kakhovka HPP, causing the flooding of territories in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. Evacuation of people from the affected areas is ongoing.
