Ukraine hits eight Russian air defense systems, four artillery units

That’s according to a morning update delivered by the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Today, the enemy again launched a massive attack on Ukraine, employing various types of missiles. Details are yet to be published. In the past 24 hours, two missile strikes were recorded on Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region, where the enemy used an S-300 air defense system. In addition, the Russian Federation carried out 48 airstrikes and more than 50 attacks involving multiple rocket launchers," the report said.

Further missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remain highly likely as the enemy does not abandon their terror tactics, the General Staff warns.

The Russians are concentrating their main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Maryinka axes. In the past day, 49 firefights were reported in the specified areas of the front line. Bakhmut and Marinka continue to be at the epicenter of hostilities.

No signs of enemy offensive groups being formed were detected in the Volyn and Polissia directions.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, the enemy launched mortar and artillery attacks on the settlements of Yeline, Medvedivka, and Muravya of Chernihiv region; Vovkivka, Manukhivka, Stukalyvka, Iskryskivshchyna, Volfine, Shpyl, and Stepok of Sumy region, as well as Kozacha Lopan, Hoptivka, Lukyantsi, Hatyshche, Budarky, Nesterne, Kruhle, Zemlianka, and Starytsia of Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy doesn’t stop trying to improve their tactical position. Last day, they ran unsuccessful offensive operations in the districts of Masyutivka and Novoselivske and conducted an airstrike in the Kislivka district. Dvorichanske, Kamianka, Krasne Pershe, Mitrofanivka, Fiholivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kindrashivka, Kupiansk, Kislivka, Tabaivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region, as well as Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region were subjected to artillery and mortar strikes.

Over the past day, the enemy launched no offensive operations in the Lyman direction while conducting an air strike in the area of Spirne. Makiivka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Verkhnyokamianske and Spirne in Donetsk region were subjected to artillery shelling.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues their offensive actions. Heavy fighting is going on for Bakhmut. In addition, the enemy ran offensive actions in the direction of the settlement of Ivanovske, failing to advance in the area. Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Druzhba, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Severne, Zalizne, Petrivka, Toretsk, and New York of Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy went on an offensive near Avdiivka, with no gains. Russian airstrikes targeted Avdiivka, while the settlements of Stepove, Lastochkine, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka in Donetsk region with subjected to artillery fire.

In the Marinka direction, units of Ukraine’s defense forces repelled numerous enemy attacks in the area of Marinka. At the same time, Krasnohorivka, Hostre, Heorhiivka, Marinka, and Novomykhailivka of Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

The enemy also shelled populated areas in the Shakhtarske direction. Among them are Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Novoukrainka, and Shakhtarske.

The enemy remains on the defensive in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. Russian airstrikes targeted the settlements of Vilne Pole, Donetsk region; Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia region, and Stanislav and Kizomys in Kherson region. Meanwhile, the settlements of Burlatske, Vilne Pole, Novopil of Donetsk region; Olhivske, Malynivka, Hulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Hulyaipilske, Bilohirya, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv, and Kamianske of Zaporizhzhia region; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as the city of Kherson were subjected to Russian artillery fire.

The enemy continues to cynically use the educational facilities across the temporarily occupied settlements for their own purposes. A school in the town of Yasynuvata, Donetsk region, is being used to accommodate personnel. Military hardware is parked in the schoolyard and basements serve as shelters.

"In the past 24 hours, the Air Force conducted nine strikes on Russian manpower and equipment clusters  as well as seven – targeting the enemy's air defense systems. Six attack drones of various types were destroyed. Also, Ukraine’s rocket and artillery units hit three Russian control points, five clusters, four artillery units at firing positions, an anti-aircraft missile complex, five e-warfare stations, and an ammunition depot," General Staff concluded.

As reported earlier, from February 24, 2022 to May 15, 2023, Ukraine’s Defense Forces eliminated 199,460 Russian personnel.
