Russians shell enterprise in Mykolaiv region, causing environmental damage worth almost ₴850 million

In the Mykolaiv region, Russians bombed a private enterprise, causing environmental damage worth almost 850 million hryvnias - more than 200 tons of oil products and 145 tons of car tires were burned.

The State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District reported this on its Facebook page, Ukrinform reports.

"At the end of September 2022, as a result of shelling, a fire broke out on the territory of the private enterprise VITAHO Business Center on Novozavodska Street in Mykolaiv. According to the results of calculations, the total amount of environmental damage is UAH 847.2 million," the statement said.

It is noted that as a result of the shelling, the company's warehouses were destroyed, oil products spilled and caught fire, and car tires burned.

State inspectors conducted a survey and found that construction waste contaminated a land plot with a total area of 8,000 square meters.

The fire burned 200.5 tons of fuel and 145.4 tons of tires, causing air pollution with combustion products. The spill of oil products contaminated a land plot of 500 square meters.
