Czech Republic to look for ways to increase ammunition supplies to Ukraine - Pavel

The Czech Republic, in cooperation with its partners, will look for ways to increase the supply of ammunition to Ukraine, which is necessary for the Ukrainian Armed Forces for a successful counter-offensive.

Czech President Petr Pavel said this at a briefing in Prague on Sunday upon his return from Ukraine, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"It became quite clear that for a successful defense Ukraine currently needs ammunition the most. Of course, there is also a lack of equipment, but a critical shortage of ammunition not only limits Ukraine's ability to defend itself effectively, but also to some extent limits its ability to launch a successful counter-offensive. And if they want to regain control over the occupied territory, which Russia has aggressively held for more than a year, then there really is no other way but a counter-offensive," Pavel said.

According to him, the Czech Republic will look for opportunities to increase the supply of ammunition to Ukraine from its own stocks, as well as "creative ways" of their supply together with other allies in the near future. According to Pavel, there are such opportunities.

He noted that now the Russians use four or five times more shells every day than the Ukrainians.

The Czech president visited Ukraine on April 28-29 together with Slovak President Zuzana Caputova.
