Munitions for air defense systems promised by Canada are already on their way to Ukraine, an official in the office of Defense Minister Anita Anand told CBC News.

“An official in her [Canadian Defense Minister’s] office reached out to CBC News following the interview to clarify Anand's statement,” the report says.

According to CBC News, the official said “the air defense munitions are on their way to Ukraine — not the entire NASAMS system.”

“Canada apparently has reached an agreement with the United States to acquire the sophisticated ground-based launchers but has no plan at the moment for delivery,” the official said.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Canada has announced the allocation of almost $800 million in various military aid to Ukraine. The NASAMS system, which costs about $300 million, is almost half of that amount.
