Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken note of the recent reports prepared by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, including the report on the human rights situation in Ukraine and the report on the treatment of prisoners of war.

According to Ukrinform, the ministry said this in a statement posted on its official website on March 24.

"We are grateful to the monitoring mission for its work, particularly the documentation of international human rights and humanitarian law violations committed by the Russian Federation in the context of its armed aggression against Ukraine," the statement reads.

At the same time, the ministry said it was unacceptable to place responsibility on the victim of aggression.

"According to the UN Charter, Ukraine has the right to self-defense," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has emphasized on multiple occasions that Ukraine expects the UN mission to avoid any steps that could be interpreted as equating the victim with the aggressor.
