Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis have discussed the expansion of defense support for Ukraine, namely in the context of the latest European initiative related to the supply of ammunition for Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

On March 24, 2023, Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, who was paying a working visit  to Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We highly value the European Defence Agency's project arrangement for the collaborative procurement of 155mm ammunition, which was signed on March 20 and has already been joined by 19 EU member states and Norway. This is truly a revolutionary step,” Kuleba said.

In the course of the meeting, Kuleba and Landsbergis coordinated steps in view of the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius.

“The fate of Europe and collective security is being decided on the battlefield in Ukraine. The best strategic solution for the return of peace and stability to Europe will be Ukraine’s membership in NATO: full, implicit and unconditional,” Kuleba emphasized.

Additionally, the two foreign ministers paid special attention to Russia’s responsibility for the crimes committed in Ukraine. In this regard, Kuleba and Landsbergis welcomed the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Putin and noted that this decision highlights the need to establish an International Special Tribunal, which will bring Putin and other Russian high-ranking officials to justice for the crime of aggression.

Separately, Kuleba thanked the Lithuanian side for its coordinating role in strengthening military aid, providing shelter to Ukrainian refugees, assistance to Ukraine’s energy system, as well as the training and treatment of the Ukrainian military.
