Conscripts brought from Russia to set up fortifications in Crimea

Russian troops are enhancing their defenses in the temporarily occupied Crimea, setting up more fortifications. In particular, 150 conscript soldiers from Russia’s Chelyabinsk region were ordered to do the relevant engineering work.

This was reported by the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces on Facebook, Ukrinform saw.

"The Russian Federation is focusing its main efforts on running offensive operations in the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Shakhtarsk directions. "Last day, our defenders repelled 71 attacks," the update reads.

The invaders fly continuous aerial reconnaissance missions to spot their fire. They carried out 14 missile and 19 air strikes, as well as 57 strikes involving MLR systems. Peaceful civilians were affected.

The threat of further missile strikes remains significant throughout the territory of Ukraine, the General Staff warns.

No signs of any offensive groups being formed the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna, and Slobozhanshchyna directions are being observed. The enemy shelled the areas of Horodyshche, Chernihiv region; Popivka, Stukalyvka, Pavlivka, and Hyrine in Sumy region, as well as Staritsa, Varvarivka, Vovchansk, Vilcha, Ohirtseve, and Bolohivka in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, the enemy attempted to advance, with no success, near Ploshanka, Nevske, Kreminna, Dibrova, Bilohorivka, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Fedorivka, Vasiukivka, as well as in the Serebriansk forestry area. Their artillery shelled the areas near Novomlynsk, Dvorichne, Hryanikyvka, Kupiansk, Kislivka, Tabaivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region; and Makiivka, Nevske, Dibrova, and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region.

In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy forces continue their assault on the positions of Ukrainian troops. They have undertaken unsuccessful offensive efforts near the settlements of Orihovo-Vasylivka, Berkhivka, Yahidne, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, and Severne in Donetsk region. Areas of 22 settlements were shelled. The Russians also launched a missile attack on the civilian infrastructure of Kostiantynivka.

In the Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions, the enemy launched an offensive in the areas of Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Avdiivka, Severne, Vodiane, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, and Vuhledar settlements – with no gains achieved. In particular, Avdiivka, Orlivka, Vodiane, Netaylove, Hostre, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, and Prechistivka of Donetsk region came under Russian fire.

The enemy is in defense in the Zaporizhia and Kherson directions. Russian artillery continues to shell the areas of settlements along the contact line. These include Vremivka and Novopil of Donetsk region; Olhivske, Malynyvka, Hulyaipole, Orihiv, and Bilohirya in Zaporizhia region; Marganets and Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region; Zmiivka, Kherson, Novoberiylav, Beryslav, Antonivka, and Kizomys in Kherson region,; as well as Matrosivka in the Mykolaiv region.

According to the General Staff’s intelligence due to fears of deoccupation of Ukrainian territories, the so-called municipal prosecutor of Horlivka, Donetsk region, has resigned and is preparing to evacuate to Russia.

"Over the past day, the Air Force launched 12 strikes on the invaders’ manpower and equipment clusters. Also, our defenders shot down three unmanned aerial vehicles of various types: Orlan-10, Supercam S350, and Lancet-3. Missile and artillery units hit Russia’s control post, two manpower clusters, a radar, an electronic warfare station, as well as two other important enemy targets," the General Staff concluded.

As reported, since February 24, 2022, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have eliminated 147,470 Russian invaders.
