Death toll in Russia’s missile strike on apartment block in Bakhmut rises to five

Rescuers have found the bodies of a 35-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child when dismantling the rubble of a five-storey apartment block, which was hit with a Russian missile in Bakhmut, Donetsk Region, on May 17, 2022.

The relevant statement was made by Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“According to the data from the investigation team, the number of the victims of Russia’s missile strike on the apartment block in Bakhmut has increased. When dismantling the rubble, rescuers found the bodies of a 35-year-old woman and a 2-year old child,” the report states.

Earlier, two men, 43 and 44, and a woman, 75, were reported killed. Four more civilians, including three children, aged 9, 12 and 17, were injured.

Hence, the death toll in Russia’s missile strike on the apartment block in Bakhmut rose to five. Rescue operations are underway.
