Russians mortar Ukrainian border guards in Sumy region - war update by General Staff

In the area of Bilokopytove, Sumy region, the units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine came under enemy mortar fire.

That’s according to a morning update on the situation at the front line, delivered by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

Russian invaders pursue offensive operations in Ukraine’s east, focusing their main efforts on the Donetsk direction, the report reads.

Russian airstrikes destroyed civilian and military infrastructure in the Eastern Operational Zone and industrial facilities in other regions of Ukraine.

In the Volyn and Polissya areas, the situation saw no significant changes, with the threat of missile and air strikes from the territory of Belarus on Ukraine’s infrastructure prevailing.

In the Siverskyi direction, the Russians are focused on strengthening border protection. In the area of Bilokopytove, Sumy region, the enemy fired mortars at units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

In the Slobozhansky direction, the Russians are working to deter the offensive of Ukraine’s forces.

In the Kharkiv direction, Russia’s main efforts are focused on holding their positions and preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops. In the Sloviansk direction, Russia is trying to replenish its army ranks before attempting to resume the offensive.

In the Donetsk direction, Russian invaders continue to fire mortars, artillery, and MLR systems, as well as deploy warplanes.

In the Lyman direction, Russian enemy conducted offensive operations in the area of ​​the settlement of Drobysheve. Strengthens troop groups.

In the Sievierodonetsk direction, near the settlement of Sirotyne, the Russians suffered losses in a firefight, being forced to pull back.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Russians engaged Ukrainian troops toward Vyskryva, with no tactical success.

In the Avdiyivka direction, Russian occupiers engaged in a firefight near Kamyanka, achieving no gains.

In the Kurakhiv direction, the enemy launched an offensive toward Vuhledar, albeit with no success.

The Russians did not try to advance in the Novopavlovsk and Zaporizhia areas, inflicting fire damage to civilian infrastructure in the areas of Kamyanske, Orikhiv, Novosilka, and Huliaipole.

In the South Buh area, Russian units made no attempts at the offensive, firing at Ukraine’s positions using artillery and mortars in the areas of Lymany, Tavriyske, Trudolyubivka, and Osokorivka.

In the Bessarabian direction, as a result of a missile strike launched by Russian strategic aircraft, in the Belgorod-Dniester district of Odesa region, civilian infrastructure facilities were affected and a number of households were destroyed.

In the Black Sea, off the coast of Snake Island, hoisting and rescue operations were underway at the site where a Russian landing craft had earlier been hit.

In the past day, Ukraine hit five air targets: a Su-25 fighter, three operational-tactical UAVs, and a cruise missile.

Ukraine’s warplanes provided fire support to ground forces.

Eleven enemy attacks were repulsed in Donetsk and Luhansk regions over the past 24 hours. Five tanks, a Tor anti-aircraft missile system, six artillery systems, 12 armored combat vehicles, and a truck were destroyed.
