Border areas in Sumy Region and Chernihiv Region come under enemy fire

In the evening of May 8, 2022, Russian troops twice shelled the border areas in Sumy Region and Chernihiv Region.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Internal Affairs Ministry on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“In Shostka District, Sumy Region, border guards recorded 10 rocket explosions about 3 kilometers away from the state border, which were launched with the multiple rocket launcher system from the territory of the Russian Federation. In addition, the enemy opened fire with mortar systems. Several mortar shells exploded about 1.5 kilometers away from the state border, on the outskirts of a village in Horodnia District, Chernihiv Region,” the report states.

According to the preliminary data, there were no casualties. This information is yet to be confirmed.
