Nuclear fuel inside reactor, threat of global disaster real – Zaporizhzhia NPP spokesman

Nuclear fuel is currently inside the nuclear reactor of Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is still being shelled by Russian invaders. There is a real threat of global disaster, the consequences are impossible to predict.
Channel 24 informed referring to spokesman of the Zaporizhzhia NPP press service Andriy Tuz, according to Ukrinform.
"One week ago, the power unit was connected to the grid. A few days ago, it has been put in a state of scheduled repair. Nuclear fuel is in the middle of a nuclear reactor. It has not been unloaded yet,”
He added that there is a pool in the central hall for reloading and holding nuclear fuel, which also contains assemblies with uranium and nuclear fuel. If the destruction of the hermetic membrane occurs now, the release of radioactive materials is real.
As reported, Zaporizhzhia NPP declared nuclear threat due to being shelled by Russia’s heavy weapons.
