Three killed, 16 injured in night rocket attack on Zhytomyr

Russian invaders' rocket attack on Zhytomyr last night killed three people and injured 16 others, including seven children.

The main directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"After the night enemy attack, there are casualties among the civilian population: as a result of the explosions, three people died and 16 people, including seven children, were injured and hospitalized," the statement said.

According to the report, 12 people were rescued, including six children who were hiding in the basement during the explosion and were blocked.

As a result of the explosion, ten private houses were destroyed and damaged (three houses caught fire). Three one-storey shops were completely destroyed and one was damaged. The blast destroyed glass and windows in various buildings of the city hospital No. 2.

Fires in private homes were put out. Emergency and rescue work is underway.

On the night of March 2, Russian invaders fired three rockets at Zhytomyr.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying key infrastructure, with missiles hitting homes.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was declared.

Ukraine filed a lawsuit against Russia to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
