Zelensky: Parliament should soon develop options for holding elections
President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Ukraine must be prepared for any possible developments regarding elections, adding that the Parliament should soon develop options for how they could be conducted.
As reported by Ukrinform, the President made this statement in response to journalists’ questions.
“The most important thing (…) is that I am not clinging to my position. I believe Ukraine must be ready for any development of events. I asked our partners to assist with the security situation if elections are held, and I said that lawmakers should prepare options for how this could be implemented if the situation develops in that direction. They should work out, in the near future, options for holding elections,” Zelensky emphasized.
He also noted that he had received signals from the United States and from President Trump regarding elections for the President of Ukraine. “Whether these signals are coming only from the United States of America or also from the Russian side, I do not want to comment on that at this time,” the Ukrainian President said.
As reported by Ukrinform, in an interview with Politico the day before, Trump said that the time had come for Ukraine to hold presidential elections, despite the ongoing war with Russia.
