Russian sabotage groups trying to infiltrate Ukrainian lines on southern front – Voloshyn
On the southern front, Russian units are attempting to use “green cover” (foliage) to infiltrate deeper into Ukrainian defenses, particularly in the area of the Velykomykhailivka forest. However, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are increasing search-and-strike operations and are containing the enemy.
This was reported on television by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Defense Forces of the South, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The foliage has now grown in, and the enemy is trying to use it to penetrate deeper into our defenses. For example, we have even increased the number of search-and-strike operations to detect such groups,” he said.
According to Voloshyn, the enemy has become more active on several directions, including the Oleksandrivka sector.
“Their groups are trying to enter the Velykomykhailivka forest, to scout possible crossings, because the Vovcha River flows there. In this forest, the enemy is trying to seize a foothold in order to continue assault operations toward the Pokrovsk sectgor of the front and the Dnipropetrovsk region,” he added.
As reported, 241 combat engagements between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian troops were recorded on April 26, with the highest enemy activity in the Pokrovsk sector, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 55 assault attempts.
