Ukraine gradually shifts war onto Russian territory, says deputy defense minister

Ukraine is gradually shifting the war onto Russian territory, and air raid alert sirens are already blaring across the Russian Federation. Recently, more than 250 aerial targets were detected in the Moscow area, all aimed at the aggressor country’s military infrastructure.

Deputy Defense Minister Oleksii Vyskub reported this in a comment to Ukrinform.

“Ukraine is gradually shifting the war onto Russian territory, systematically striking the aggressor’s military infrastructure. In response, the Kremlin, in its usual manner, is hysterically and chaotically attempting to strike civilian targets in Ukraine,” Vyskub noted.

He recalled that recently, several key facilities in the Russian military-industrial and chemical sectors—which support the production of missiles, drones, and explosives—have been struck. In particular, Ukraine attacked the Kremniy-El plant in Bryansk. Currently, the plant, which produces components for missiles and drones, is considered unsuitable for repair.

“There are only two such plants in Russia,” the deputy minister clarified.

He also noted that the most distant strike was carried out against the chemical industry enterprise Metafrax Chemicals, located more than 1,500 km from Ukraine in the Perm region.

The deputy defense minister noted that while the world’s attention is focused on events in the Middle East, air raid alert sirens are heard across nearly the entire territory of Russia.

“While the global spotlight is focused on events in the Middle East, another development has gone almost unnoticed: Air raid alert sirens are blaring almost constantly across the Russian Federation, and even Moscow has been under constant attack by Ukrainian drones for the past two days. The city authorities have been forced to acknowledge this. The Moscow mayor’s channel reports on the ‘shooting down’ or ‘interception’ of Ukrainian UAVs almost every 10 minutes,” he noted.

Vyskub recalled that, according to statements from the Russian side, over the past two days alone, more than 250 aerial objects targeting military infrastructure have been spotted in the vicinity of the Russian capital. Of the four airports in Moscow, only Vnukovo is currently operational.

“The war that Russia brought to Ukraine is gradually returning home,” Vyskub concluded.

He noted the effective work of Ukrainian air defense and recalled that since 2022, Russia has launched up to 50,000 Shahed drones against Ukraine. At the same time, the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense against them is 80-90%.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck 13 oil and gas facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation between January and February.

On March 10, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out successful strikes using Storm Shadow air-launched missiles against the Bryansk microelectronics plant Kremniy-El.

The plant specializes in discrete semiconductor devices and integrated circuits used in modern weapons. Specifically, these are used in Iskander missiles, which have a range of up to 500 km.

On March 14, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Maykop Airfield in the Republic of Adygea (Russian Federation).
