Four-time Ukrainian champion in strongman multi-athletics and Ukrainian record holder Pavlo Ishchenko was killed on the frontline.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Sport.ua.

“The sports community has received another tragic news from the front. Four-time Ukrainian champion in strongman multi-event competition and Ukrainian record holder Pavlo Ishchenko was killed in the war with the Russians while performing a combat mission,” the report said.

The athlete was born in Hostomel, Kyiv region. Before becoming a strongman, Pavlo was a world and European champion and a multiple Ukrainian powerlifting champion.

Ischenko combined his competitive career with coaching.

Pavlo became the strongest in Ukraine in strongman multi-event competitions during the full-scale war in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.

As reported by Ukrinform, track and field coach Andrii Bobrovnyk was killed in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
