Ukraine downs all 18 incoming Russian missiles, including 6 Kinzhals

Ukraine’s air defense forces have shot down all 18 missiles of various types Russia launched at the country overnight Tuesday.

That’s according to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.

At around 3:30 in the morning on May 16, 2023, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine from the north, south, and east, launching 18 air, sea, and land-based missiles of various types, the update reads.

“Six Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air ballistic missiles were launched from six MiG-31K aircraft, nine Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from warships in the Black Sea, and also there were three land-based missiles (S-400, Iskander-M),” reads the report.

All 18 missiles were destroyed by Ukraine’s air defenses.

In addition, on the night of May 16, the enemy launched attack drones of the Shahed-136/131 type, and also conducted aerial reconnaissance using three operational-tactical drones - Orlan-10 and SuperCam.

All of them were destroyed as well, according to the report.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, missile debris fell in five Kyiv districts in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the city military administration. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported three casualties.
