Repair work on a damaged bridge in Ukraine’s Odesa region is ongoing, and the logistics situation is expected to improve in the coming days.

According to Ukrinform, this was stated by Serhii Sukhomlyn, Head of the Recovery Agency, during a broadcast on Suspilne.

“Engineers are working so that the relevant services can restore the bridge as quickly as possible. We understand how important this is for the country, including for the supply of petroleum products. The government has done everything possible to reroute fuel supplies via alternative routes, and such options exist. Therefore, I believe that within two to three days we will normalize the situation,” Sukhomlyn said.

Commenting on the repair work itself, the Head of the Recovery Agency noted that operations are complicated by regular shelling, which has further worsened the condition of the bridge. At the same time, Sukhomlyn emphasized that the Agency’s services have hands-on experience in dealing with such damage and expressed hope that the repairs can be completed soon.

At present, alternative routes are being used to maintain connections with the southwestern part of Odesa region, including routes through the territory of Moldova.

“We understand that many people do not have foreign passports. The Cabinet of Ministers is currently doing extensive work, including at the international level, to resolve this issue,” Sukhomlyn added.

As reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) has assigned an additional group of railcars to Chisinau from Odesa and Kyiv. This was an prompt response to complications at the Moldovan border affecting other modes of transport.

Ukraine, together with Moldova, is working on transit routes and alternative transport links to ensure uninterrupted logistics in southern Ukraine.
