According to Metalist's coach, a lot will depend on the game of our legionnaires.

The head manager of Metalist Kharkiv FC, Oleksandr Kucher, told Ukrinform in a comment he believed Ukraine would be able to beat Scotland in the upcoming 2022 World Cup playoff match.

"I think Ukraine will be able to win. Of course, it’s a shame that the guys couldn’t play stably, that our home league discontinued due to the war. Nevertheless, there are legionnaires who haven’t stopped playing, including Zinchenko and Malinovsky.

Our guys have enough character, they understand what a match it is and will make every effort to win," Kucher said.

It should be recalled that Oleksandr Kucher scored against Scotland in the Euro 2008 qualifier. In that home match played in October 2006, Ukraine won 2-0.

Regarding next year’s Ukrainian Premier League, where Metalist qualified from the First League, Kucher revealed when the team would resume training sessions: "We are waiting for the return of the League. The boys are now on a vacation. On June 14-15, we will gather and prepare for the League resumption, if any. We all want to play football."

As Ukrinform reported, on Wednesday, June 1, National Team Ukraine will play Scotland in 2022 World Cup playoff. The kick-off is at 21:45 Kyiv time.
