Zelensky makes address to Ukrainian Olympic athletes
Zelensky said this in a video address posted on his Facebook page on Friday, July 23, according to Ukrinform.
"I believe that bright Ukrainian stars will shine in the land of the rising sun. I believe that you plan to bring for us something more precious than gold, silver and bronze – these are the emotions of victory, the pride of being a Ukrainian, happiness to be a Ukrainian, moments that remain forever in our big more-than-forty-million-people family album. Let's make this album even bigger. We believe in you, we support you and we are waiting for gold in Ukraine. And our gold is all Ukrainians in Tokyo," he said.
Zelensky recalled that thanks to Ukrainian Olympic athletes, the blue and yellow flag had been raised in different parts of the world.
"I believe Tokyo will also see our flag soon," he said.
The Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics formally kicked off on Friday, July 23, and will run until August 8. Some 158 athletes will represent Ukraine in 25 sports.
