Derevyanchenko, Golovkin face off ahead of title fight

Ukrainian boxer Sergiy Derevyanchenko (13-1, 10 KOs) and former middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin from Kazakhstan (39-1-1, 35 KOs) have held a face-off ahead of their title fight slated for October 6.

Derevyanchenko will compete for the vacant IBF middleweight belt with Golovkin at Madison Square Garden in New York. The match will be broadcast live on Ukraine's XSport television channel at 04:00 Kyiv time.

Derevyanchenko challenges for the IBF belt for the second time. He fought for the same IBF belt last year but lost a split decision to Daniel Jacobs, his first defeat as a professional. The IBO title will also be at stake.

The Ukrainian boxer will get $5.5 million for the fight.
