Pidhrushna to bear Ukraine's flag at PyeongChang 2018 opening ceremony

Ukrainian biathlete Olena Pidhrushna will bear Ukraine's flag at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. 

Athletes made this decision on February 7 during a general meeting of the national Olympic team, the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine reported.

"I am glad that I have an honorary mission to carry Ukraine's flag at the opening of the Olympic Games. It's nice that the team supported my candidacy. It was my dream as a child, that's why this pleases me twice," Pidhrushna said after the meeting.

"I would like to ask every Ukrainian to support our country! Every soul, every smile, every joy will support us. Together to victory!" she said.

The Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang kick off on Friday, February 9.
