Embezzlement under 'green' tariff: NABU court remands one suspect in custody
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) stated this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
The court also set an alternative to detention for the suspect – a bail of UAH 30 million. If this amount is paid, the suspect will be subjected to corresponding procedural obligations.
With this decision, the investigative judge partially satisfied the request of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) detectives, agreed upon by the SAPO prosecutor.
As Ukrinform previously reported, anti-corruption authorities uncovered a scheme to misappropriate funds intended for "green" tariff payments, benefiting a number of commercial energy-generating enterprises located in temporarily occupied areas of Zaporizhzhia region.
Nine people were notified of suspicion. Among them are a former deputy head of the Presidential Office, a former member of Naftogaz's supervisory board, his brother – owner of a network of Ukrainian and foreign companies, a trusted associate of a former high-ranking official, managers and employees of affiliated enterprises, as well as a former commercial director of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo.
