Decisions on launching “zero course” must be made by end of October - MoE
This was stated by Oleh Sharov, Director General of the Directorate of Higher Education and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education and Science, in a comment to Ukrinform.
“According to preliminary plans, all of this [the ”zero course“] should start working in November. To this end, the relevant decisions must be made in September-October. Consultations are currently underway,” he said.
Sharov clarified that the main difference between the “zero course” and preparatory courses at universities will be the availability of full-time education.
“The main difference, I think, will be that today all preparatory courses are evening, part-time, or distance learning. The preparatory department, in particular, should be full-time,” he said.
The official noted that this is a fundamental element of the initiative. No less important, according to him, will be the availability of benefits, in particular for residents of temporarily occupied territories.
At the same time, those who are not eligible for benefits will pay for their education, Sharov added.
As reported by Ukrinform, Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi said that the government has developed a draft resolution on a “zero course” at universities for those who, for various reasons, did not pass the NMT.
