During the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, seven individuals involved in National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) cases were extradited.

This was stated in an interview with Ukrinform by NABU Director Semen Kryvonos.

“We have already submitted 134 requests for extradition or temporary arrest of suspects and see positive dynamics in this process. Since the National Bureau began its work, nine people have been extradited, seven of them after the start of the full-scale invasion,” Kryvonos said.

According to him, there is currently progress on the issue of extradition in certain jurisdictions with which there were previously some problems.

“Things have really improved overall in the criminal justice system, and there has also been some progress at NABU,” he said.

Currently, NABU and the Office of the Prosecutor General are communicating with foreign partners, explaining to them that safe conditions have been created in Ukraine for the individuals whose extradition Ukraine is requesting, Kryvonos added.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine is often denied extradition of individuals involved in cases due to the war and inadequate conditions in detention centers and prisons. To solve this problem, Ukraine has prepared five special detention centers and colonies for holding extradited persons. They are located far from the combat zone and have renovated premises. The facilities are located in the Chernivtsi, Lviv, and Zakarpattia regions.
