The Office of the Commissioner for Persons Gone Missing Under Special Circumstances is developing new methods of searching for those missing in the temporarily occupied territories.

That’s according to Oleh Kotenko, the Commissioner for Missing Persons, Ukrinform reports.

Kotenko, together with legal adviser Ivan Angelin and the commissioner’s envoy for Kyiv region Anastasia Holishevska, held a meeting with the families of missing soldiers in Bila Tserkva. The event was also attended by local authorities and the military.

During the meeting with the families of the missing persons, Kotenko reported the current results of the search efforts, outlined the ways of interaction with other responsible agencies, and once again recalled the algorithm of actions in cases when soldiers go missing in action.

"Search work is productive only when there is understanding and cooperation of the Commissioner's Office not only with the responsible agencies, but also with the families of missing persons. We are very much counting on our further cooperation because thanks to your information and new evidence, the search may speed up," said the commissioner.

The Commissioner's Office constantly introduces new search methodology not only in the territory under Ukraine’s control, but also in temporarily captured regions, Kotenko emphasized. "The search efforts don’t stop for a moment," he noted.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and non-government organizations presented a booklet for the families of mobilized soldiers, which will help them reach out to the relevant military bodies if necessary, and also explain how to act in case their family member in the army ranks does not get in touch with their loved ones.
