U.S. to give over $8M in support for displaced Ukrainians in Czechia

The United States will allocate $8.2 million to support refugees from Ukraine and organizations that provide assistance to them in the Czech Republic.

This was reported by Radio Prague International with reference to the U.S. Embassy in Prague, Ukrinform learned.

It is noted that this amount is part of more than $107 million, which the United States provides to European nations to help Ukrainians who fled the country due to the Russian war.

The largest part of the funds bound for the Czech Republic, $3.3 million, will go to UNICEF. The World Health Organization will receive $2 million, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees will get another $1.5 million, and the International Organization for Migration will be given $1.4 million.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in March 2023, the Czech government extended the rules for crisis accommodation for Ukrainian refugees for another year. Since the outset of the war unleashed by Russia, more than 470,000 citizens of Ukraine have been granted temporary protection in the Czech Republic.
