Documentary ‘20 Days in Mariupol’ wins Sundance audience award

Mstyslav Chernov’s documentary ‘20 Days in Mariupol’, depicting the early weeks of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, has won the audience prize at the Sundance Film Festival in the United States.

The relevant statement was made by Radio Liberty [Radio Svoboda], an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The film captures the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the bombing of a maternity home and the rescue of the author and his colleagues from the Associated Press from the city surrounded by Russian troops,” the report states.

The film production team included also photographer Evgeniy Maloletka and field producer Vasilisa Stepanenko.

At the Sundance Film Festival, the film was shown in the World Cinema Documentary Competition section.
