Venediktova: 111 members of councils of all levels prosecuted for corruption over three years

"Over the past three years, 5,500 people have been prosecuted for corruption, including 111 members of councils of all levels," Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova said at the conference "Seven Years of Anti-Corruption Reform", an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

This year, indictments with corruption charges against 3,500 people have been submitted to courts.

"That is, every day we submit to court an average of 11 cases in this category against 16 people," Venediktova added.

She clarified that during the current year, law enforcement officers neutralized 60 organized criminal groups, half of which acted in government agencies, and the sum of damages in corruption cases this year has already reached UAH 3 million.

As reported, the International Anti-Corruption Day is marked on December 9.
