Ukraine authorizes clinical trials of two COVID-19 vaccines

The Ministry of Health has authorized clinical trials of two COVID-19 vaccines in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, a respective order signed by the minister of health has been published on the ministry's website.

"To allow a clinical trial of a medicinal product intended for measures to prevent the occurrence and spread, localization and elimination of coronavirus disease (COVID-19)," the order reads.

Sanofi Aventis Ukraine LLC submitted an application for the study.

According to the document, a "multi-stage, modified double-blind phase 3 study will be conducted in many parallel groups to evaluate the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity of two adjuvant recombinant protein vaccines (monovalent and bivalent) against SARS-CoV-2 to prevent COVID-19 in adults aged 18 years and older."

The study will be conducted in four medical institutions in Kyiv and one medical institution in Vinnytsia.
