Ukrainian Oksana Lyniv became the first woman to conduct the Swiss orchestra at the concert in celebration of the UN anniversary at Victoria Hall in Geneva.

"I had the honor to take part in the annual official solemn event organized by the UN. The permanent representatives of 193 countries were invited to the concert. For the first time in UN history, a woman conducted a solemn concert. For many very important people in the audience, this became an impressive and touching fact," Oksana Lyniv posted on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

According to her, there was a historic moment during and after the concert at Victoria Hall when the word "Ukraine" was on everyone's lips. However, Lyniv was most impressed by the words of the mayor of Geneva, who noted that those sounds and music "represent today the most beautiful flag of freedom in the world."

Recently, world-renowned Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv became the music director of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, an opera house in Bologna, Italy, where Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, and Wagner premiered their works in different centuries. This is the first time in the history of Italy that a woman was invited to such an important position in a prominent state theater.

Oksana Lyniv is a Ukrainian conductor, born in Lviv region. She is the founder and artistic director of the LvivMozArt festival, founder and chief conductor of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine / YsOU.

In July this year, Lyniv became the first conductor at the Bayreuth Festival in Germany, and a month later, during the official events dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Lyniv the Order of Princess Olga, 3rd class.
