Ukrinform
The increase in COVID-19 cases in Ukraine is an extremely serious signal and it is necessary to convince the population to get vaccinated in order to prevent a fourth wave of the disease.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said this during an Hour of Questions to the Government in the Verkhovna Rada, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Regarding the topic of COVID-19, the objective reality and the number of cases show a significant increase – actually doubled today-yesterday compared to last week. This is an extremely serious signal. The whole world is facing a fourth wave today ... We need to step up our efforts and encourage people to get vaccinated - this is the only way to prevent the fourth wave of the spread of COVID-19," the PM said.

He noted that more than 10 million doses have been administered in Ukraine since the beginning of the vaccination campaign.

In addition, Shmyhal urged Ukrainians to maintain social distance and wear masks.

At the same time, the head of government assured that Ukraine has a sufficient number of beds provided with oxygen.

Some 3,615 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Ukraine on September 9.

A total of 10,407,825 doses have been administered in Ukraine since it launched a COVID-19 vaccination campaign, with 5,789,252 people receiving their first dose and 4,618,573 people receiving both doses (two people received their first dose abroad).
