Over 9.8M marriages registered in Ukraine since its independence – justice ministry

More than 9.8 million marriages have been registered in Ukraine since it gained independence in 1991, the Ukrainian Justice Ministry has reported on Facebook.
"Over the years of independence, civil registration offices in Ukraine have registered more than 9.812 million new families. That's how many couples in love have officially formalized their relationship over the past 30 years," the report reads.
The Justice Ministry earlier launched a "Justice in the Years of Independence" flash mob, aiming to share with the public interesting facts about the achievements in the field of justice over the past 30 years.
The ministry reported on August 9 that more than 13.6 million children had been born in Ukraine since its independence.
On August 24, 2021, Ukraine will mark 30 years since it gained independence.
