Ukrinform
On the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) once again called on the world to pay attention to the blatant human rights violations in the Russian-occupied Crimea.

According to Ukrinform, the UWC wrote about this on Facebook on August 9.

"On the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we once again call on the global community to turn their attention to the pressing issues of the blatant human rights violations on the occupied Crimean peninsula, and political persecution of Crimean Tatars activists by the Russian authorities," the report reads.

August 9 marks the International Day of the World's Indigenous People. It was on this day in 1982 that the first meeting of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations took place.
