Egypt plans to create Ukrainian-language hotline for tourists
He said this at a press conference with Ukrainian journalists in Cairo, according to the Novoye Vremya online news site.
"I was in Ukraine last summer - this was my first visit after the resumption of tourism (after the first wave of COVID-19). I had a very warm welcome. I liked the visit," the minister said.
According to him, at the request of the Ukrainian authorities, his agency appealed to the Chamber of Hotel Establishments in Egypt to make sure that "the Ukrainian language appears everywhere in hotels that Ukrainians visit."
The minister added that ETPB is now introducing a Ukrainian-language hotline.
"I hope it will work very soon. Tourists will have a person who speaks Ukrainian. […] You are a very important source of outbound tourism, this is a request of all your tourists, so we will do it," he said.
El-Anany also said that all new and renovated museums in Egypt would have Ukrainian audio guides.
In 2018 and 2019, Ukraine was in second place by the number of tourists who came to Egypt. About 1.5 million Ukrainian tourists visited Egypt in 2019, and since the resumption of tourism in 2020, Ukraine has been the first source country for outbound tourism in Egypt.
