Mandatory health check-ups are planned for Ukrainians aged 55 and over every two years, and every year for some categories of citizens.

"So-called health check-ups, comprehensive medical examinations every two years will be introduced for people aged 55 and over, and every year for some categories," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said, presenting the nationwide program "Healthy Ukraine" at the Forum "Ukraine 30", an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to statistics, 85% of premature deaths in Ukraine are caused by non-communicable diseases, mostly cardiovascular diseases and cancer, the biggest problem of which is the late-stage diagnosis.

"Early detection of diseases allows the state to save the lives of its citizens, spending much less money and, most importantly, giving more chances [of life]," Zelensky said.

As reported, President Zelensky presented a new nationwide program "Healthy Ukraine" which aims to increase the life expectancy of Ukrainians.
