Ukraine is first Eastern Partnership country to be in close cyberdialogue with EU

Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Frederik Coene said this in a video address to the participants of the All-Ukrainian Forum “Ukraine 30. National Security”, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Coene noted that cooperation between Ukraine, the EU, and the United States had been a crucial factor in creating a safe cyberspace in Ukraine.

"Within the framework of the EU4Digital program in Ukraine, which is actually aimed at cross-border digital development, we propose to conduct technical training and establish cooperation between departments dealing with digitalization and the UA30 Cyber Center. Before the next summit [of Eastern Partnership], we will launch a cybersecurity dialogue. Ukraine will be the first country of good neighborliness with which such a dialogue will be established," Coene said.

He assured that the European Union would continue to work closely with Ukraine in the field of cybersecurity. This cooperation will include, in particular, capacity building of the country, as well as joint actions on international platforms and exchange of relevant experience.

As reported, on May 13, President Volodymyr Zelensky opened the UA30 Cyber Center whose experts have to prevent virtual attacks on Ukrainian facilities.

EU4Digital program complements the EU's bilateral support for Ukraine in applying e-government solutions to local government bodies, improving interoperability of administrative services, and enhancing resilience of cyberspace, especially before elections.
