The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations have decreased significantly in Ukraine in the past week, according to Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov.

"Compared to last week and the week before, the number of hospitalizations decreased significantly. There were 14,480 [hospitalizations] last week, compared with 19,237 the week before. The number of new cases also decreased significantly. There were 55,605 new cases last week, compared with 36,389 new cases the week before. The difference is almost 20,000. As of today, there are about 29,000 patients [with coronavirus] in hospitals," Stepanov said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The minister reminded that there were more than 49,000 patients with confirmed or suspected coronavirus in hospitals at the peak of the third wave.

As of today, no region is in the “red” zone of epidemic danger, eight regions are in the “yellow” zone, and other regions are in the “orange” zone, Stepanov added.
