Most Ukrainians ready to be vaccinated against COVID-19 - UNICEF

The study found that for many people, COVID-19 is already their personal experience.

Some 66% of respondents said that COVID-19 affected people close to them, and 22% said they contracted coronavirus themselves. Some 43% of respondents said the disease had serious consequences for them or people close to them.

More than two-thirds (71%) of those polled think the pandemic is a threat to themselves and their families. Among people over 60, this figure is higher and stands at 81%, UNICEF added.

"Most Ukrainians consider vaccination to be an effective way to protect themselves from COVID-19. If it were possible to get vaccinated against COVID-19 free of charge, 63% of respondents would like to do so, but 31% of them would like to do so only with a specific vaccine. The older generation showed a greater readiness: 71% of people aged over 60 agree to be vaccinated against COVID-19 free of charge," the study reveals.

Some 67% of older people would advise their relatives to be vaccinated against COVID-19 free of charge.

According to the survey, family doctors have a high reputation: 64% of Ukrainians in general and 72% of people over the age of 60 listen to the advice of a family doctor when deciding on whether to get vaccinated against COVID-19 or not.

The study was conducted via telephone interviews (calls to mobile phones lasting up to 15 minutes). Some 2,027 people over the age of 18 were interviewed in all regions of Ukraine, except for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions not controlled by the government.
